World premiere of Pema Tseden’s THARLO at Venice Int’l Film Festival
Tharlo, newest film by Pema Tseden, an internationally well known filmmaker from Tibet, had its world premiere at the ongoing Venice International Film Festival
Shot in black and white, the story follows a shepherd whose quiet life is disrupted when he has to go to the city to get his first ID photo.
“Tharlo is typical of Tibetans of the present generation. This is a story that shows them in a state of confusion, disorientation and desensitization,” Pema Tseden told Variety magazine.
