The war in the Middle East has severely affected global flight movement. A New York-based Tibetan YouTuber shared her family’s ordeal when they had to pay a whopping Rs 2.94 lakh ($3100 USD) on a one-way ticket from New Delhi to New York for her mother.
Comparatively, under normal circumstances a ticket between New Delhi and JFK (New York) is around $500-$600 USD (between Rs 40,000-Rs 50,000)
In her popular YouTube channel called Chemi Vlog, Chemi has shared how they were left with no choice but to buy tickets for such an exorbitant price because her Amala (mother) had to travel to New York before the expiry of her Exit Permit from India.

Surging ticket prices are pinching everyone’s pockets. A Kolkata-based Chinese family had to take a long detour with tiring layovers through Southeast Asia to get home to Toronto (Canada) because of the eye-watering ticket prices.
Increased travel time:
While airlines are adding additional flights to their fleet even as the war in West Asia shows no sign of slowing down, it is the common people who are suffering. Longer travel time has become part of the itinerary as airlines avoid Iranian airspace.
A Times of India report says the travel time between New Delhi and London has increased from 8 hours to more than 12 hours. This is also due to Indian airlines avoiding Pakistan and Afghanistan airspace.
The “Big Three” Gulf airlines – Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways – are severely impacted. Emirates has recently stated that they are operating with limited services even as Dubai, the most popular and busy aviation hub, only partially functioning.
