Everyone loves a good ghost story. The obsession with the supernatural and the unexplained
has been a part of human existence since the dawn of civilization.
From books to movies and YouTube videos, we lap up anything that piques our curiosity
about what lies beyond the human realm, patiently waiting by the invisible door to enter our
world.
A group of friends huddled together under blankets, excited and shivering with nervous
energy, while one of them dramatically narrates the tale of the woman who never sleeps. One
unfamiliar sound sends the whole group into a shrieking match. Sounds familiar, right?
One such unexplainable tale has made its way to Yeshe, an online journal of Tibetan
literature, arts, and humanities.
Skillfully penned by Losang Gyatso, the write-up titled “Virginia is for lovers” narrates the
tale of a trip Gyatso and his wife Tencho la had taken from North Virginia to Richmond to
meet their son 25 years ago.
An old Polaroid appears but they have no memory of when and where it was taken. What
follows is a long drive, a missed exit, a gas station, and a friendly cashier. Play ‘Hotel
