Basketball is gaining popularity particularly in Amdo. Norlha Textiles, which has organized several Basketball tournaments, organized first Saka Dawa Invitational in Amdo this year.

Labrang monks team, Singer Sherten’s team and Chinese university students team are among the teams that participated in this maiden tournament, which also had some international players including NBA player Steve Hawes.

According to the Norlha’s Facebook post, they are looking forward to organize their next tournament in September, when they will introduce wheelchair basketball, inviting some of the best international players.
