New Tibetan Novel: Another Place by Tsering Wangyal aka Editor

Another Place, a novel in English by late Tsering Wangyal, the celebrated former editor of Tibetan Review, is out now.

As books written in English by Tibetans are rare and novels are rarer, the new work is remarkable.

“ …Another Place is one of the eight novels in English written by Tibetans so far. Publishing the books written by Tibetans is important considering most books on Tibet are authored by non-Tibetans,” said writer Bhuchung D Sonam of Blackneck Books, while talking to Voice of Tibet on the significance of this book published by Blackneck.

The book is drawing more attention because of its author, who edited the Tibetan Review for 20 years (1976-1996), producing angry editorials which were very popular among its readers.

“… He was ready to take on the exile government and other players over political questions he felt they had mishandled or neglected,” writes Writer Jamyang Norbu in his latest writing, Introduction to 𝑨𝑵𝑶𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑷𝑳𝑨𝑪𝑬, a novel by Tsering Wangyal aka “Editor-la, which throws light on the life of late Editor, who passed away in Toronto in 2000 at the age of Fifty-one.

  1. This is ridiculous. It’s well and good that the Blackneck Books and High Asia have published the novel by late editor Tsering Wangyal aka Editor. Nothing seems to have done in distribution and marketing of the book. I don’t know for sure if Tibet Fund has hand in funding the book for free distribution, if a post on Facebook is to be believed, the general public has no access to the book at all. This is outrageous. I sincerely urge the publisher to make it available online to reach the wider audience for less pain in the neck.
