Her emotional Graduation Speech receives standing ovation
One of the videos which is being much shared these days on Tibetan cyberspace is the recent Graduation speech by Tsejin, a Tibetan girl from New York.
Dressed in white Chupa and reflecting on the challenges of trying to fit in the new environment, she says “I tried to assimilate to the norms which were not my own…I tried to hide aspects of mine for fear of not being accepted. I thought conforming to the perceived norm was the best path to growing. But it wasn’t and I failed…”
“To try and be someone that I wasn’t, wasn’t fulfilling at all. Slowly but surely I started realizing that I could be myself even if I was the only one like me here,” shares Tsejin about her transformative experience at the school.
She took the opportunity to draw the attention on the plight of Tibet and the self-immolations in Tibet.
Her moving story left some in the audience wiping tears, and everyone gave a standing ovation at the end.
