Yesh: Tibetan artist making English songs
US-based artist Yesh released her latest Music Video Face 2 Face recently, featuring herself and Miss Tibet 2018 Yonten.
She is among the few Tibetans in exile who compose songs in English. Kesang Marstand is another Tibetan doing so but in a different genre.
“I feel inspired by a lot. I have an overactive brain. People inspire me, I love storytelling, I love listening to stories,” Yesh said in an interview with Yakpo Collective.
Her full name is Yeshe Gyaltag, born and raised in Switzerland. Her parents were among the first 60 Tibetans settled in Switzerland in 1960s.
She grew up watching her mother listening to Hindi music and father to Elvis Presley. Inspired by Music since childhood, she persisted in the journey of music passionately.
Leaving Switzerland, she moved to US ten years ago, where she continues to learn and work with renowned professionals from the Music industry.
She dropped first video Glass online in Febuary and debut EP hour 2147 in August.
